SOS are pleased to announce that, like our PPod, Nessie has won an award at the Naidex Exhibition.
We are thrilled that Nessie has won the Best In Show Award at the 2013 Naidex Exhibition 2013. Nessie is a simple, ridged, u-bend cushion is specifically designed for children of differing sizes and abilities to sit up comfortably or lie in different positions to receive physio and rebound therapy. The bright colours and cuddly texture will be more inviting than intimidating to young patients. The solidity of the foam cast and removable covers mean that it’s a highly practical aid as well. Nessie, aimed at babies and small children helps promote good posture and movement during play time. It’s friendly, plush looks means it fits in with any playroom setting.
The Award is judged by Able Magazine who over the last 20 years have became a respected and trusted voice in the disabled community. During this time they have gained a thorough understanding of the UK disability marketplace and the many products and services available to disabled people, their families, carers and people in the satellite healthcare industry.
Able regularly review disability and mobility products and have come to be valued and recognised by disabled people for their independence, trustworthiness and simplicity. Products are tested by real experts – disabled people or carers/enablers who use them on a daily basis.
The criteria for the award includes 5 areas:
- Value for money – regardless of price range, do customers get what they pay for?
- Functionality – including comfort, ease of design, reliability and maintenance
- Form/styling – does it “look the business”?
- Innovation – does it offer a new or improved solution for a particular challenge?
- Desirability – is it something people will want to use or own?
Each criteria is marked out of five, with an overall product score derived from the average of those scores.
We would like to thank the judging panel, therapists, carers/enablers, and everyone else who have purchased a Nessie and thoroughly enjoyed using it. SOS are continually developing new products and improving our existing ones, the best in show award 2013 is proof of our continued effort to create products with real benefits to both the user and carer.
