Container number 12 arrives in Mexico
Recap: Since 2007 SOS have supported MEDiCT the Mexican Disabled Childrens Trust. A charity set up to provide specialist seating and equipment to Mexico’s poorest children. Their work enables children with severe posture abnormalities to enjoy life more by improving their quality of life, much like our custom seating does to children and adults in the UK. Specialised Orthotic Services have been helping fund the shipment of modern specialist seating to Mexico.
The containers contain products donated by SOS, wheelchair services, parents, charities and more. We would like to thank everyone who helped contribute to the donation and the volunteers who helped make all of this possible.
If you would like to get involved please visit the MEDict website for more information: http://www.medict.co.uk/
We received several photos from MEDICT showing the container being unloaded along with some photos of how the products have been put to good use since their arrival:

“The containers sent to Mexico are filled completely before sending them. Each item is photographed for identification (and customs). This makes it easier to sort the items at the other end and ensures that as many wheelchairs and mobility aids are sent as possible. One door jammed closed and fastened so we can get a few more things on the other side!”

“Done! Container number 12 with 6 tons of equipment. We know that every bit will be used appropriately and help many many hundreds of children and their families. Heartfelt thanks to SOS!”

“The team in green are from the Centre for Postural Attention. A whole day a week they go to another school or institution to teach staff the skills they have learned through our support. Thank you SOS!”

“Seats made in the CAP at the Institute. This would have never been possible without the training and support given by SOS. No other centre in Mexico have the skills to do this”

“No Power chairs were available at all until we started to send them in the SOS containers, many lives transformed with this mobility. Bright young girl using the laptop to communicate. Going on to Uni! This seat was made in the CAP. All skills learned from SOS”

“Kevin learning to use his laptop for communication. Has power chair from SOS container. Within a year of having a laptop to communicate, Kevin went to a mainstream school”
