A Big Thank You…
At our Christmas meal in December 2013 SOS held a raffle with all proceeds going to 3 local organisations. A total of £500 was raised from the sale of the tickets.
We have received a letter and thank you card from the YMCA in Burton-on-Trent thanking us for the donation. The letter says the money raised was spent on providing Christmas dinner and pudding for a number of people and a Christmas present for each of them – for many the only one they had.
Also they are looking to buy a games console or something similar with the remainder to encourage group activity, participation and engagement. They wanted to pass on their heartfelt thanks to everyone who made the donation possible and helped to bring a smile to those who are in need at Christmastime!
The YMCA is the largest and oldest youth charity in the world. They offer a safe place for young people to stay and provide support to young people in the local community.
GO Kids GO are using the donation to help provide wheelchair skills training across the UK and thanked us for our support. They provide help and support to young people, helping them become more independently mobile.
The remaining money was donated to the Church of Pentecost PIWC Derby to help continue their work in the community.
SOS regularly takes part in fund raising activities to help support the local community. It is great to hear the money has helped to provide much needed support.
